What is Venture Crew #111

Venture Crew #111 is a shooting sports oriented activity club for young adults.  Our goal is to teach young people about safe firearm use, responsible conduct, marksmanship, and  competitive shooting.  Many of the youth members of Venture Crew #111 have already become NRA Apprentice Instructors. 

Because this program is Venture the BSA has given permission to explore not only basic rifle marksmanship and shotgun skills, but we can explore pistol marksman ship as well. 

Venture Crew #111 has three main focus areas:  Rifle Skills, Shotgun Skills and Pistol Skills.  Venture Crew #111 has many of the firearms available

What is a Venture Crew?

• Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years of age. The purpose of Venture is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.

Do I have to be a Boy Scout to join?

• No, Venture Crew #111 is available for all young adults, female or male, ages 14 to 20.  You do not have to belong to any other organization to be eligible for membership to Venture Crew #111
   
• Girl Scouts and 4H members may be able to work towards advancement while a member of Venture Crew #111.
   
• Current Boy Scouts can advance in rank through Venture Crew #111.   A Boy Scout can advance all the way from 1st class scout to Eagle Scout without being registered in another troop.
   

Do I have to own a firearm to join?

• No.  Venture Crew #111 has a few very generous benefactors that have donated many of the firearms utilized by the crew.  We do however encourage responsible firearm ownership.  If you have personally owned firearms that you wish to use please let us know.
   
• In fact, you do not need any knowledge of firearms.  All you need is a desire to learn and to be safe.
